45 year old Shoukath Ali of Karachi had heart attack in July 2013. He underwent Angiogram in Jinnah National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Karachi recently. As he was repeatedly getting chest pain, Doctors there advised bypass surgery urgently. Shoukath Ali, an Electrician could not afford surgery there as it would cost about Rs. One Million in private hospitals in Karachi.
He is a resident of a place called Bangalore town in Karachi. This area is called so because during partition many People from Bangalore had migrated and settled there. Ali’s Parents who were Silk Merchants in Ramanagar had also migrated there. Shoukath Ali thought he would get operated in his father’s ancestral city and came to Bangalore. Moreover his wife Mumtaz Khatun is from Bangalore.
He underwent a Triple Bypass Surgery by a team headed by Dr.P.S.Seetharama Bhat in Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bangalore. He has recovered well and ready to go back to Bangalore Town from Bangalore City.
Dr.C.N.Manjunath, Director of the Institute says that Jayadeva Hospital has operated on many Patients from Pakistan and Contributes in its own way for people to people contact from neighboring countries. In spite of waiting list, Mr. Ali was operated urgently as a goodwill gesture. He had to spend only Rs.82,000/-.
