JAYADEVA HOSPITAL CONDUCTS SUCCESSFUL
OPEN HEART SURGERIES ON FOUR INDONESIAN CHILDREN
HOSPITAL TO PROMOTE HEALTH TOURISM
Four Indonesian patients underwent successful Heart Surgeries at Jayadeva Institute. Out of four, three were children suffering from Complex Congenital Heart Disease and one female women suffering from Rheumatic Heart Disease, Severe MR, Mild AR. Initially they were seen by doctors at Indonesia Hospitals but they were reluctant to conduct these surgeries. All these patients are basically from Medan City of North Sumatra Province in Indonesia and they are ailing from financially constrained families.
IndonesianRotary has contacted Bangalore Rotary International District 3190 and Needy Heart Foundation Chairman Rtn. O.P.Khannaand Rtn. RajendraRai to arrange Surgery at Jayadeva Hospital, Bangalore.
We at our Institute decided to call them during the month of July and accordingly they were admitted on 21st July 2022. These children were Master William Bunda Jaya (3 Years – VSD Surgical Closure + PDA) / Master Osvaldo Lee (5 Years – ASD Device Closure) / Master Marcello Arka Sean (3 Years – ICR for TOF) and Mrs. Indah PratiwiTanjung(28 years – Mitral Valve Replacement)underwent Surgeries successfully.
The Team of Doctors headed by Dr. P S SeetharamaBhat, Dr. Divya, Dr. Jayaranganath, & Dr. Prabhakaralong with other Associate Doctors and Staffhave successfully conducted these heart surgeries.
According to Dr. C N Manjunath, Director - out of every 1000 babies born, 6-7 will have these complex congenital diseases more commonly in the form of Tetralogy of Fallot, Heart Holes or narrowing of the valves. The usual symptoms of heart holes are fever, recurrent cough, common cold, Pneumonia, growth retardation and bluish discolouration of skin and nails and poor weight gain. We have conducted these procedures at subsidized cost.
All the patients had an uneventful recovery and their parents and Indonesian Rotary Members are also very much impressed with the facilities, hospitality and quality treatment at affordable cost. All of them have recovered well and discharged.
