40 Years old Male Security Guard working in ATM at Axis Bank has undergone successful Heart Transplantation Surgery at Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, Bangalore on Saturday early morning. As patient’s heart was very week which was diagnosed as Dilated Cardiomyopathy, he used to become breathlessness even on walking for a short distance. His Ejection Fraction / Pumping capacity was 20%. His symptoms persisted inspite of maximal medications. Under these circumstances, Heart Transplantation is recommended. He was waitlisted for Heart Transplantation. Mean while 30 years old Male, Sri. Mario Shin Yuan Huang who has slipped from Roof Top on 30th December 2016 was admitted at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore for head injury. As he was diagnosed as Brain dead, his relatives decided to donate the Potential Organs to the eligible patient.
The Blood Group of Sri. Mario and the recipient patient admitted for Heart Transplantation at Jayadeva Hospital was same, Mr. Mario was identified as a potential heart donor. It was also found that Mario’s Heart was normal for transplantation as his Echocardiography Test was normal.
Permission was granted from Zonal Co-Ordination Committee of Karnataka for Transplantation. Accordingly arrangements were made at Jayadeva Hospital for Transplant procedure. With the help of Traffic Police, the Green Corridor is created and the donor’s heart was transported from Manipal Hospital to Jayadeva Hospital on Saturday early morning 1.00 AM in just 11 minutes.
The Team headed by Prof. Seetharama Bhat has successfully conducted the Heart Transplantation Procedure which lasted for 4 hours. Other Specialists in the team are Dr. Arul Dominic, Dr. A.M.Jagadeesh, Dr. Girish Gowda, Dr. L.Sridhar, Dr. Ravi S Math, Dr. Prabhakar, Dr. J. Naveena and other skilled Nursing Staff. After successful transplant, patient is recovering and other vital parameters are stable.
According to Dr.C.N.Manjunath, Director of the Institute, this Heart Transplant was possible only because of Mario’s relative’s humanity, kindness and social concern for the others suffering. The Traffic Police efforts facilitated quick transfer of donor’s heart.
