Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular sciences and Research in collaboration with S3V vascular technologies Ltd, Bangalore conducted free angioplasty workshop on 28th and 29th March 2014. Stents worth 40 Lakhs were donated by S3V vascular technology Ltd, Indigenous stent manufacturing unit, Institute has waived off procedure charges in needy patients.
45 Patients drawn from unaffordable, under privileged and financially constraint sector of society were the beneficiaries; youngest patient to undergo the procedure is 25yrs old daily wage worker at garments shop. 30% were below 45years of age – highlighting the fact coronary heart disease in India is affecting middle age population. Hypertension, high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes mellitus were common risk factors noted among these patients.
Indian Overseas Bank has come forward to support cost of medicines for there patients, medicines to be taken lifelong. Dr. C.N.Manjunath Director, SJICR thanked Sri. Bhadrinarayan, Chairman S3V vascular technology ltd and Sri. K.Anil, Chief Manager Indian Overseas Bank for their generous donation and corporate social activity. All patients are getting discharged tomorrow.
